A summit of railway sector’s officials of Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Iran was held on

A summit of railway sector’s officials of Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Iran was held on the 9th/Dec/2014 in Dushanbe Tajikistan. The summit resulted in signing a protocol through which the likely route of Railway track, linking the above countries, was determined. According to this protocol the technical and economical studies of this railway track with the total length of 2100 km will be conducted, this phase of the project will complete in mid 2016.

The construction of this railway track will assist Afghanistan in its sustainable economical growth. This Railway track will pass though Kundus, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Badghis and Herat, with the total length of 1148 km.

On the sideline of this summit Tajikistan agreed to train 30 staff of Afghanistan Railway Authority who could later be utilised in AfRA’s railway-network operations.
